The Rural Ridge Volunteer Fire Department is located within Northeastern Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
The village of Rural Ridge, a suburb of Pittsburgh, was founded in 1860, first as a farming community then later transitioning to a coal mining village. Presently, most of the area is residential with almost all of the population of the community employed outside the boundaries of the village.
Our department is one of three fire departments that serve the 7,000 residents that reside within the 17.7 square miles of Indiana Township.
We currently have 30 active members who respond to approximately 150 emergency calls annually.
Our department prides itself on providing the residents and visitors of Indiana Township and surrounding communities with emergency services that include fire suppression, technical rescue, emergency medical care, and fire prevention education.
